What we do

Established in 1994 and currently based at 150 Pound Street in Coromandel Town, Coromandel Independent Living Trust (CILT) is a charitable trust dedicated to enhancing the lives of individuals across the Upper Coromandel Peninsula by breaking down barriers to participation. We identify the unique needs of our communities and create programmes designed to address them.

Our wide range of services includes transport assistance to help people attend medical appointments in Thames and Waikato hospitals, social and family support for whanau in need, initiatives tackling rural isolation and promoting digital connectivity and literacy, as well as programmes supporting individuals with disabilities and other barriers to participation.

At CILT, we pride ourselves on our family-oriented work culture. Thanks to the diversity of our programmes and the expertise of our dedicated staff, there is a natural flow of support and collaboration between different services. This flexibility allows us to connect individuals with relevant resources, both within CILT and in the broader community.

We employ approximately 30 staff members and are supported by over 50 local volunteers. Our transport and disability programmes have become vital to the well-being of many people in the Coromandel region.
