Support
We have a range of inclusive spaces that support connection, creativity, and community well-being across Coromandel.

Te Mana Tangata
Since 1997, Te Mana Tangata—previously known as The Work Co-op—has been a vibrant and supportive hub in the heart of Coromandel, now based in the orange cottage on Pound Street. More than just a programme, it's a whānau—a place where people come together to support one another, build confidence, and work toward meaningful personal goals.
Te Mana Tangata offers practical support for people living in Coromandel and surrounding rural areas, who are facing barriers to participation of any kind, including those with mental health challenges and intellectual or physical disabilities.
Each day at Te Mana Tangata is filled with purpose and connection. The space buzzes with activity—participants share kai they've prepared together, explore their creativity through art and tend the gardens. It’s a warm, welcoming environment where everyone is encouraged to learn, grow, and belong.

Artists in The Making
Artists in the Making is a creative support group designed for individuals facing barriers to participation. Through art and craft, participants explore and develop their artistic skills in a supportive and welcoming environment.
The group meets every Wednesday and Friday, offering a space to connect, create, and build confidence. While we primarily focus on mosaics, china painting, drawing, and painting, we also introduce new crafts based on participants' interests.
More than just an art group, Artists in the Making helps break down isolation, foster friendships, and provide encouragement. Many participants have gained confidence and new opportunities, with some even securing part-time work.
